TOBACCO FREE ENVIRONMENT

Tobacco use is the single most avoidable cause of death in Morris and Sussex Counties and can be linked to one in every six deaths in the community. Cigarettes, the most dominant form of tobacco use, are associated with coronary heart disease, cancer, stroke, emphysema, and other health problems. Smoking is common cause of cancer, a gateway drug for substance abuse and a growing addition among teens and youth. The Tobacco Free Action Team consists of members from the American Cancer Society, American Lung Association, Boonton Health Department, Dover Health Department, Morris County Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse, Newton Health Department, Saint Clare's Hospital, and many local school districts. Our goal is to reduce the prevalence of tobacco use among residents ages 18 and younger.
